Summary
Status Saver has no accounts, and the app asks for no name, email or phone number. Your media stays on your device. Ads come from Google AdMob, which may collect device data.
What the app does
Status Saver lets you view and save WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business statuses from a folder you choose with Android’s folder picker. The app can read only the folder you choose.
Data stored on your device
The app stores these on your device:
- your settings;
- the folder permission you granted;
- a list of the statuses you saved.
This is deleted when you uninstall the app. Saved statuses go to your gallery and stay there until you delete them.
Data received
The app downloads a small online settings file hosted on GitHub. GitHub can see your IP address and basic app or device identifiers, as for any web request. No personal data from your phone is sent by us.
Advertising
The app shows banner and interstitial ads from Google AdMob. AdMob may use your advertising ID, IP address, device and app details and ad interactions. In some regions you are asked for consent for personalized ads. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your Android settings.
Purchases
Any optional upgrade is processed by Google Play. We don’t receive your payment details.
Permissions
The app uses these permissions:
- folder access, through Android’s folder picker;
- saving to the gallery (on Android 12 and older, a one-time “allow saving” prompt);
- internet access, for ads and the settings file;
- network state;
- the advertising ID.
The app does not request permission to read all your photos or videos.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal data from them.
Not affiliated with WhatsApp
Status Saver is independent of WhatsApp and Meta. Respect the rights of the people who posted a status before saving or sharing it.
Your choices
You can revoke folder access in the app’s Settings or in Android settings, uninstall the app, or delete saved items in the app or in your gallery.
